nib1980 - 25/10/06 at 05:59 PM

Hi all,

I'm currently getting my engine ready t plug in My new megajolt unit I'm hoping to collect at the weekend, and I wanted to check, I take it I fit the missing tooth inline with the mark on the pulley for TDC?
is this right, if not what is?

Many thanks in advance

No..........

Gap goes at TDC, sensor goes at 90 degrees....

Then fit the missing tooth wheel at 90deg after the sensor (so my missing tooth faces down)

Yip. The notch can be fitted anywhere aslong as The sensor is 90deg before the notch when the engines at tdc.

Like I said.....90 degrees btdc..... As I mentioned a source of much debate! I fitted my sensor on then timed up the wheel....its fairly simpe think I got the engine to TDC with a timing disc on....then turn engine backwards 90 degrees and line up the edge of the first new tooth after the gap. Its worked on two totaly different cars so far so we must be doing something right...Oli.

Thats correct, the missing tooth should be inline with the tdc mark when the engine is turned 90degrees past tdc.
On a crossflow it is best to put the sensor on the left of the engine and the missing tooth will be aproximately at 10 oclock when the engine is at tdc.
Check my photo archives for some pics ,and you can have a look at it when you pick the megajolt up as well as ask anything else you need to know.
Paul.

Looking at my set up which has the sensor at a low and awkward angle ( it came of a Sierra and they have more room beneath than a 7)
1. Set engine to TDC
2. Fit sensor in a convenient position
3. fit wheel 90 degs to sensor
Job done.
