Well Caterham use this motor in their base model theirs is quoted at 105 BHP and 6.5s to 60 so can't be that bad....

Not a very torquey engine at all - but one that loves revs power output depends on exact spec model it came out of. But low ouput specs engines from entry level 200/25 models are easy to uprate to 104ps

I've got the 1.4 with standard ECU etc., just a different air filter and I would say it's good enough!

If you haven't got one already, either replace the the throttle body with the one from the 103/4/5 bhp version, or adapt it to allow the flap to open fully - that's the only different between the lower power one and the higher output version.

It's a nice light engine, though a little high with the standard inlet manifold etc., and I am more than happy with the performance. As Mookaloid says, the base Cateringvan uses it. At my first track day a couple of weeks ago I got up to 110mph before runnoing out of space on the straight.

i already have the engine its from a rover 214 from 1995. i also already have one or two A-series engines and 3 GM OHC engines in sizes 1.3, 1.4 and 1.6 engines but i don't think much of them or i could use what ever i find in my serria donor but there not that many about so its going to be what ever i find.

does anyone know how much power the GM engines kick out

Forget the GM's that k series is a cracking engine providing you get the cooling right to save the head gasket.
