Carburettor + Electrics

Ok, its got me stumped!!!!!

I have jut refitted the original Weber DFTH twin coke carb back onto my Pinto.

I remembered to connect the electric choke to the alternator and that works OK.

But.........

There is another spade connector on the front of the carb (faces away from the engine) I think it’s a solenoid because if I put power to it, it flicks in or out.

Question.......

1.) What the hell is it for?

2.) What the hell do I connect it to?

Cheers in advance,

The Baron

Just found this picture in the archive... what does this connect to????

Its an Idle solonoid. It cuts fuel off in the idle circuit. connect it to ignition supply.

It's the idle fuel solenoid, needs +12v when engine is running to allow fuel for idling. Isolated when the ignition is off

Could you not drive that with a "I'm doing over 1500 revs" circuit to get
1) infinity mpg on overrun
2) maybe some idle speed control. . .
