I’m putting together a 1.8 zetec in a locost , which is the best sump to modify and why, also dose any one make a off the self option?
lough
Hi raceline ,dunnell and retro ford all make shortened sumps. You are better off going for the cast sump which still holds 5ltrs of oil
Scholar one on mine, comes with modified oil pick-up pipe about £175 exchange
Whichever you choose, Make sure you get a baffled one if you want piece of mind....
Hi the dunnel . scolar . raceline have all been used sucsesfully on race cars for a number of years whith out trouble. Scolar being the cheaper one as
perksy says above.
cheers matt
Thank’s, will check them out, just a quick question dose a CVH steel sump fit?
I've never tried it but I understand it does if you redrill and tap the block, personally I have used the Scholar sump which is a cut & shut job, well baffled and never leaked, Tiger do a cast shortened sump but you will have to make your own baffles and shorten the pickup but it will cost similar money and the raceline is a lot more but I understand is very good.
Sure does, Needs a little work. ie four extra holes drilled and taped into the bearing cap and water pump. And a little adjustmant around the pick-up
pipe. And the pipe itself will need adjustmant.
They fetch around £15-£20 in the scrapie. They are a pain to take of whilst on the car as you need to take the gearbox of and you will need to lift
the engine so that the sump will go past the front cross member.
