Ive just been reading the post re bec trumpets and it got me thinking.
Is there a reason why R1 carbs need to be mounted at an incline when married to a bogg bros for instance inlet manifold to a pinto??
Are there floats inside them & small resoivoirs of fuel or something.
I know the engines keeled over on a bike and that the exhuast exists the other side to to under the block to the rear of the bike.
Whats the ideal angle??

On my Keihins there is a line just above the mounting face for the float bowl cover. As you say i dont understand the logic behind keeping this level
when bikes are rarely upright. I can only think it aids initial start up and idling.
Are you thinking about Boggs manifold? They are very good but seem to be pricey. Having said that i got mine rough welded to be fettled by me and it
is time consuming to make them look good. Per hour Boggs probably dont charge that much. The other good thing is you will have a contact and they will
probs give you good advice about jetting and needle height to get it running ready for rolling road - you may then save some cash on the tune up over
me.

I just got my manifold from Bogg bros. a week or so ago
Steve was very helpful and very happy so far with my manifold (but I've not had running yet)
I thought that the manifold was a bit on the expencive side too, but I got mine with carbs fitted (and serviced and first guess jetted) all for £346
which I thought was a much better deal and I didn't have to bother finding a set of carbs

when I read the subject to this thread I thought you were considering an engine swap! "R1 to Pinto"
I hope Hellfire doesn't make the same mistake otherwise there will be trouble...

New Weber 45's £350 X2 + manifold + link kit
I should have said the Steve got me ZX9R carbs because it getting harder to find R1 ones (omega0684 - care to comment on lead time for R1's)
I don't know exactly what's been done to the carbs, but they are clean and have been jetted (enough to get it running and probably enough to
get through the SVA)
they deal with pinto's all the time so there first guess is supposed to be quite good - once your on the road take a drive up/ down to Yorkshire
and they'll jet them properly for a small fee (which Steve told me and I forgotten)
When pick my carbs up from them (I was sort of passing) they had a guy in with a Mk1 Escort (2.1 pinto I think, big valves, big cam.....) on the
rolling road getting his twin webbers tunned (45 or 48's) it sounded fantastic - the guy told me that if he hadn't had the webbers already
it would be on bike carbs too

it took me about a month to find some R1 carbs and then bogg bros took 10 weeks!!!! to make my manifold when they said it would be three. imho the work that bogg bros do is very good and you pay for wot you get but their punctuality is, to say the least, SHOCKINGLY BAD!!!
how much do bogg bros charge for just the manifold ? without carbs ? any idea
About £177. If you want carbs cleaning and mounting (you supply) approx £210. At least thats what they told me a while back.
