Hi quick query sure been asked loads of times before - with a standard book chassis how much is involved in fitting type 9 - need a gear box with electronic output for speedo gauge or is there some way of running electronic speedo from standard 4 speed or bullet box?
Thanks

it depends on the signal the speedo requires.

I'm sure this could be acived with magnet/reed switch combintaion or inductive sensor.

I made my own sensor, which plugs into the hole where the speedo cable went. I don't have a drawn-up design as I made it up as I went along, but basically it's a 7-bladed steel wheel with a hall-effect sensor - this works perfectly with a CA speedo. BTW, seven blades worked out quite nicely when I worked out all the ratios, at a time when I was trying to make my own speedo using PIC microcontrollers. This was encased in a nylon package that I turned up on the lathe.

OK didn't want to buy something and find it useless, prefer not to alter chassis too.
Thanks, sol ong as there is a way ahead!!
