does anybody know if there is a gearbox that will mate up to this with out to much trouble.

Yes, from an S type Jag IIRC. Not exactly cheap or readily availble though.

I reckon the gearbox is the only reason why this engine hasn't been used more in Locosts.

What he said. The only RWD tin top is the 2.5 (and3.0?) S type jag. If you can find a manual box go for it, when I was looking they did come up occasionally, but weren't cheap.

You could always use the Mondeo box and make a middy

Its mated to a MTX75 gearbox in the Mondeo, is the bolt pattern similar to the MT75? Which in turn is very similar to the Type 9.

Im sure the zetecs in the Mk2 mondeos use the MTX75 and dont they fit straight onto a type 9?

What gearboxes do the mk3 duratec mondeos use?

Edited to say there is a guy putting this engine in a MK3 escort and making it RWD and using twin turbos, he is using an american gearbox i think from a Lincon?, so maybe there is a reason why the type 9 doesnt fit. I will post the website when i find it.
