sump modification needed

Does anyone know a place preferably in Leicestershire where I can get my Zetec ali sump cut and rewelded? I spoke to Tiger today and they no longer do this service. Thanks.
Nick

Fantastic - someone else looking for exactly the same as me in Leicestershire (I'm near melton)

If you manage to find somewhere PLEASE let me know!

I've got an 1800 zetec with the standard 1800 sump on it that needs chopping/welding and the pickup pipe adjusting too.

Give me a couple of evenings and I'll let you know!

Not had the chance to fire the TIG up since christmas so on catchup but I'm not far from either of you!

Thanks NSDev. If you are offering your services that`s very kind. I see you are near Mallory Park? If so I`m literally 5 miles away. It would be nice if you can help the other chap in Melton too. When you`re sorted please either U2U me or my e-mail is - snips.fido@talktalk.net
Cheers,
Nick

Theres a place in Nuneaton called Knights design that could do it.
Dont know how much but their welder is good.
Steve.

I've been told that you can fit a steel sump to the zetec, but do they come as standard on some zetecs (and if so, which?) or is it a CVH part?

Just wondering, cos I can weld steel but not ali, and I need to do this sump conversion soon.

Out of interest, how much did you chop out?

Tom

ooo sounds very exciting!!

I can easily pop over to mallory at any time.

Probably best to U2U me at the moment as my email is just about to change.

Thanks NSdev!

PS - I take it you don't lighten flywheels too !?!?

Tom,
I haven`t chopped my section out yet but will hopefully be doing this over this week. You also need to cut into the side of the sump to allow space for the starter motor to fit alongside so I`m told. Then there`s the oil pick up pipe to alter and finally baffles to fit inside the sump. By no means not a quick job!

Tom,
I`ve never heard of a steel sump on a Zetec. They`re certainly not standard. Series 1 & 2 Zetec engines both had one piece ali sumps and the phase 3 engines had a 2 piece ali sump. I can only assume the metal sump you mention is from another engine modified to fit?

Having done more (google) research, it looks like you can fit a (steel) 1.8 CVH sump from a Sierra with a little work - you need to drill and tap two holes in the block and "relieve" the area around the oil pump a little (hit it with the largest hammer to hand).

(think you have to be a turbosport member though)

Hope this helps - sounds like it could be a cheap option
