While I've been working on my ignition system I've noticed that one side of the engine compartment is covered with an oily film. After some
investigation, I have found that the PSV (crankase oil pressure relief valve) on my crossflow is a very loose fit in its housing - the rubber grommet
doesn't grip it at all. All the oily surfaces seem to originate from that point.
I'm going to strip the valve itself for a good clean-out (I bet it's never been done in the life of the engine) but I would like to replace
the grommet that provides a seal - anyone know if these can still be bought and, if so, from where?
I'd like to get it working properly, as the only alternative is a catch tank and I'm not sure I want one of those yet (I know I'll
forget to empty it).
cheers,
David
I think I know the part you mean; mine was loose so I put some bicycle inner tube over it. you need narrow innner tube as found on racing bike
wheels.
question I ask myself is how will it last when subjected to oil and what would happen if it falls apart?
frist question I don't have an answer for but or the second, hopefully it drops into the sump and stays there or else is too big to pass through
the oil pick up strainer.

I had a similar problem (my PSV grommet was actually torn). My grommet was a common size (I found a replacement in my assorted grommet selection box)
but after stripping I found my valve to be faulty.
After sourcing another valve (off a very helpful member on this forum) I found that the new valve as slight larger (in dia.) and my new grommet did
not fit! Luckily the original owner sent me the matching grommet and PSV can.
I think vulcan engineering still sell them
( i know they do a nice shiny alloy one for a pinto..)
