Pinto Camshaft Bearings?
flathatmat - 6/1/07 at 07:01 PM

Has anyone ever changed their own camshaft bearings on a pinto? It says in the manual it is best left to an engineering shop but i have managed to get the old ones out with not too much trouble and it seems it is just a matter of pulling the new ones in??
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks in advance.

You need to pull the new ones in using some studding and a couple of washers etc. Then try the cam , it may be a bit tight and if so it is possible to polish the high spots carefully with some scotch bright but if fitted carefully they should be ok.

I did a set using some studding and suitable sized sockets.

Make sure its square before you bollock it up though!

done it before as well, not difficult but just take your time.

Did mine, made some pullers on the lathe to prevent the new bearings distorting when they are pulled in. They are pretty tight!
