On my type 9 the speedo drive is redundant as I've used magnetic pick up type on drive shaft. What is the best way to seal up the old speedo take off point? I've used silicone mastic to seal mine and it leaks a bit.
I turned an aluminium plug which was a tap in fit into the old hole after completely removing the speedo sender/drive. Covered it in hylomar before i
tapped it in, hasnt leaked yet...

I mixed up some instant metal and put this over the area.
It hasn't leaked, however I've got a leak from the rear of the gearbox (where the proshaft enters the gearbox)
Just wondering if this could be something to do with the fact that I haven't removed
drive Mechanism.
MM i have to seal mine. I was going to put a thread about this myself...
does it need sealing?
I was going to leave mine open and I know of at least one person who has done that with no problems.

EDIT: should have read the 1st post. If it is leaking already then I guess it does need sealing. Strange though, as that goes against what was
suggested elsewhere.

mine is just left "as is" as hasn't leaked yet, but the box hasn't got hot yet either!
I think the leaky ones have a worn out seal, as there is a proper oil seal on the drive output.

I think I will leave mine open and if it leaks too much do what flak monkey did.
