
What does the inside of a dry sump tank
look like as I need to make one this weekend.

exactly like the outside but on the inside - is it a trick question?
you need something for deaeration - usually a horizontal mesh, maybe a couple of more layers so it catches the oil bubbles; when they burst, the oil
pours downwards.
not sure what size is best though.
the incoming tubes need to end about the mesh and the outlet at the bottom.
ADDED: whizzin the oil around the side of the tank sounds good ot me, see be,ow for mk2 improved versions

It's pretty simple.
You have a piece of mesh rolled into a tube which sits inside a tubular barrel. The take-off point is at the bottom of the barrel.
The inlet for the oil comes in from the edge of the top piece of the barrel. This tube enters the space between the inner aspect of the barrel and the
strainer tube. It comes in at an angle relative to the horizontal. This way the oil coming in gently hits the wall of the barrel and spirals down the
outer casing (helps get rid of aeration)...

Might be involved in dry sumpage soon. Was hoping to modify the ST1100 oil pump outlets to allow me to do a sump chop... but just got an 2nd hand
ST1100 pump off Ebay and it doesn't look very doable!!! So its dry sump time!!!
Should liberate a few more ponies. I'm having a secondary belt anyway for the blower so it just means a bit of plumbing and a dry sump system....
