fuel injection pump prefilter??
NS Dev - 11/1/07 at 09:22 AM

Anybody got any (cheap!!! ) suggestions for an injection pump prefilter for 5/8" fuel line?

I never used them in the past but the new grasser will be needing a big, and rather expensive group A cosworth type Bosch pump.

Having to spend £100 ish on the pump I am reluctant to seize it with a piece of careless weld spatter from the tank!

Anybody got any suggestions, was wondering about a diesel engine prefilter or something, as petrol filters are either ludicrously expensive or too small (this bosch pump has a BIG inlet, M18!)

cheers

Nat

VWP do cheap clear placcy ones but I think have 6/8 mm tails - you are after 16 mm! <-- that' gonna cost ya!!

see FSE , £ 60 ish

just seen this:
G SSF2012 BMW 13321269244 14x1.5 14x1.5 105 74 £7.90

more reasonable £

(you may need an adapter if the reduction in dia is ok)
or Thinkauto; or ebay.

someone posted a sugestion of using an Audi in-line filter - they were cheap.
I seem to remember they fitted many Audis, including the Quattro

mmmm, that might do the trick!

The dia is ok, just not sure how restrictive the element is (most are designed to work on the pressure side not the inlet side) but thanks for the link, very good idea!!!

this is the Audi filter - it has 12 mm ends (less than 5/8) but might ba of use anyway
