Can anyone help, I have fitted the oil pump to my 2.0Ltr Zetec but, I did’nt prime it.
Do I have to and what is the best way to do this.
Thanks for any advice.
no you dont need to prime it, it will be fine
I found my blacktop would not self prime. I removed the filter, made a semicircular bath from a bean tin cut in half, sealed against the block and filled with oil and wound the engine backwards on the crank pulley nut. Oil was sucked back into the pump priming it. Filter back on, started the engine and pressure came up almost instantly.
Hi or just fill the filter with oil before fitting . Disconect the coil plug and crank engine till preshure shows shouldnt be a problem on a zetec
unlike the old crossflow.
cheers matt
If you remove oil presure switch and force oil down gallery it will fill the pump up. I have done this in the past it works.
Just fill the filter up mate itl be fine. When i rebuilt mine i just filled the engine with oil and fired it up. Primed itself with no bother.
