hello all,
didn't really know where to put this so if its in the wrong section i do apologise,
im running a pinto engine and there is a crank case breather hole on the right side of the engine(as you look from the front). the hole is situated to
the right of the oil filter.
i am going to run an oil catch tank so that i can go on track days, so i need to know where i can get the valve that fits in the crank case breather
hole, i believe that its a one way value so that excess crap can come out but not get back in.
i have searched ebay but cant find anything, all help welcome,
thanks guys
Alex
How much oil is coming out of the breather? I just attached a reasonable length hose with a breather filter on the end... Allows pressure changes but the oil would have to be pretty determined to get all the way up to make the filter oily.... Worked for me anyway!!
Here you go Alex.

just had athought your block has not got the little metal tank that the valve fits in, you may need to get one
Steve.
cheers steve
I don't know if you realise, but the valve won't work if you are not using a positive crankcase ventilation system (PCV)
This valve is designed to open under manifold vacuum from a manifold connection when using a single carb manifold. the resulting vacuum pulls the oil
mist out of the crankcase and burns it through the engine and while it is doing so stops oil leaking out of the oil seals as there is a lower pressure
inside the crank case.
The valve is actually there to stop moist air being drawn in from the manifold when the engine has been stopped and is cooling down.
So with this in mind you should read dave andrews article on engine breathing to sort out what to do.

Cheers

Hi just as Mookaloid says . i had to remove the spring and damper out the valve to stop the oil coming out the oil filler cap one of the mods you
need when fitting bike carbs or webbers
