setting up bike carbs
auzziejim - 28/1/07 at 06:57 PM

right now i have my pinto running i need to get the fuelling set up. i have a set of mikuni's and have drilled the jets to 160 so far. it seems to be running lean, it was idling ok now i have an exhaust on it its missing on number 2 cyl but i have a spark there and the carb on that cyl is drawing in. so i will check the plug but have a feeling it may be down to running lean. if revved the engine will either die or very hesitantly and roughly rev but it aint happy.

just like to know how others have jetted their bike carbs on a 2L pinto?

also when checking the timing i got in a bit of a muddle, lol. am i right in thinking that i need to be around 12* BTDC and leads go on the dizzy cap in firing order (my mate swore blind they went on 1-2-3-4)

cheers all

I am using 1.6mm ish main jets, drilled not bought, the needles have been lifted onto the last notch. Runs fine, no problem-

My carbs are Mikuni BSR33's

not lean not rich just right.

Hi a little bit diffrent but here gose
zx9r carbs on a 2.1l pinto
main jets 1.7 mm
air screws out by 1 full turn
two washers on each needle [ there is no notches on the needles ]
and the small air holes are blocked off with 2.5 alloy welding wire under the air filter
