New Show-Kit Car Parts Show
rally design - 30/1/07 at 02:39 PM

If anyone has ever attended the Ford Enthusiasts Parts Show, which is held in April and November at Donington they would understand the concept of a new show that I am trying to persuade a promoter to organise.
The Enthusiasts Parts Show is basically one step up from a Car Boot Sale,it is part indoors and part outside and is used by retailers, enthusiasts, car clubs etc to meet and exchange ideas, sell parts, sell cars, offer awards for concour cars etc.It is cheap to exhibit(12ftx6ft inside stand £69.00,15ftx15ft outside stand £52.00,car sales space£30.00).It's a one day Sunday show from 10 to 4.
Ok,my idea is that we could repeat this show in the Kit Car World...groups of builders could have their own stand to sell off surplus parts.Manufacturers/Retailers could use it to sell off old stock or special deals.
It could be used to sell off an unfinished project which the builder has lost interest or motivation in finishing....load the lot on a trailer sell en-bloc or break but get the parts back working in a new owner with renewed enthusiasm.
Sell off your finished concours kit to make room for the next project,
Buy that missing part which has proven elusive/expensive to find.
View others ideas on how they overcome a difficult design problem.
Demonstrations on material cutting,finishing,welding etc.
Do you get the idea?
I need others to support or criticise my idea so that I can present the case to a show promoter.
Welcome your responses.

I know not all kitcar shows are up to scratch (apart from stoneleigh, the best in the kitcar world by a mile imho) but most aspects of what you have described are already included in the ones that already run though I guess they may be more expensive to have a stand at. If all the stands/exhibit space is so cheap how do the organisers make their money above the overheads of a venue?

I've just been having a think about this and its a pretty good idea, bassically another type of auto jumble but more home build related.

I'm sure a group of us from one area could more than fill a van,i would certainly be up for it.

The idea behind this was the main reason I used to go along to Bingley at the start of the season - Little interest in the cars on show TBH. I used it as an opportunity to meet up with a few mates and the owners clubs and go 1 stop shopping at the suppliers I would normally have to mail order in from around the country.

The idea sounds great - any chance of it taking place just outside of Stafford in about 6 weeks

Cheers

Andrew

Fantastic if it was held 'out of season' when people are busy building... like right now!

Only it really needs to be in the east of england to make up for all the trekking across country I have to do for stoneliegh etc

They hold a similar thing at Newbury showground but for Land Rover parts and only Land Rover parts - anything from the early series 1 to the latest Range Rover parts. It's called the Sodbury sortout. It's excellent if you want Land Rover bits. A similar thing for Kit cars sounds excellent. Cant wait !

Chris,

With a low cost show they must only make money off the door as stand prices probably only just cover venue overheads and charges..
