Zetec and keycodes?
CraigJ - 2/2/07 at 05:41 PM

Im wanting to use a 2.0 zetec in my kit car but im worried about if it will still work because of the key codes. If i remove the engine and gearbox, engine loom, fuse box, ecu will it all still work or this there anything ive missed

Thanks.

Its going to be mid-engined by the way.

you say you take away the loom?automaticly you also remove withit the needed keycode device.

There are nog electronic grizmo´s in an engine. in fact every car can bestolen!

You just need to replace its MCU(by an open or compatible one and shutup its alarm!

Sow if you want zetec there are 2 options
Carbs (Webers)
or Mega Squirt (injection)

or offcourse DTA and al the others (not locost)

Hi,

If you want to use the original ecu you'll need the pats module and key reader coil and of course the key

If your mondeo is a mk1 or mk2, the worst thing it can have is a alarm with immobilizer but certainly no keycode system (maybe later mk2 did?)

And this alarm system is external to the ECU, so it's just 1 wire. (got that from the ford TIS electrical diagrams)

I don't know what goes through the wire yet, but I bet it'll bet a high or low signal.

At least I hope so, otherwise I will have to go aftermarkt ecu too.
