Without getting into a Zetec or BEC debate, has anybody any experience with these?:

Seem too good to be true - £175 for what appears to be a set?, even with taxes / shipping etc, that would be about £250....
re-read with my eyes both open - defo a set of 4.
I was speaking to my local scrappy who races a Pinto (Mini-Stox??) and they use Diesel engine Con-rods, and it requires a small amount of machining
to fit them. Probably a LOT cheaper...
Its got to be worth looking into.

They look like the Eagle rods, I have a duratec set in my engine.
Have a look on here
If they have what you want then there is a UK importer that will give you a price delivered to your door, all taxes and duties paid,
here
I bought my rods & pistons through him on a recent upgrade.
Cheers

I guess it would make more sense to get a set of diesel conrods (1.6l only i believe?) and have them balanced/lightened, but I have drawn a blank to
date getting hold of a set - if anybody has a spare set - let me know!
I have already got a set of V6 pistons ready to build to in with the intention of a 2.2, was more exploring alternatives, which may be more easily
available!

In my pinto grass tracking days I used diesel rods, never threw one, later fitted a Dave Brookes downdraft head, the dogs danglys at the time, made
just short of 170 at wheels at a staggering 6900rpm, red lined it at 7000.
This is going back decades, went onto too fit a cosworth head (wanted a warrior but couldn't afford it) and only just managed the same power
outputs even though it wanted too rev more. The work involved too make a cosworth head work on carbs is enormous, the red top VX could make the same
power with far fewer mods. If I was building a CEC without doubt it would be VX redtop.
Am intending to run a big valve head on GSXR throttle bodies run through megasquirt, if I can get 160+ out of it I will be more than happy.
Originally intended to go to Zetec power, but the chassis chopping I would need to do to get there made me rethink
have not heard anything bad about the diesel rods in a pinto (other than a bit of machining req'd) but as said, just don't know where to
source from ?!
Personally I would do the chassis mods and fit the engine of choice rather than spend money on a pinto too avoid the chassis alterations.
forged rods - china $70 us
thats where theyre all coming from
if it was 'just' the chassis mods, I would probably have landed on the side of Zetec or XE engine, but add in the 4-1 manifold and prop
shaft i've already got and the pinto is the best part of £500 ahead to start with....
I have an upgrade plan in place which goes from the 1.6l i'm currently running, adding TBs & MS, then upgrading the engine to 2.0l / 2.1l /
2.2l - I know it's not the most efficient upgrade path but should keep me busy for a few years....
