Guys,

Is it possible to fit a Civic Type-R supercharged engine into an Indy??

That would be nice.

Sounds very ariel atom-esque....would be a sweet little engine but think it spins the wrong way round! I'd love to put the one in from the integra type-r, but again think it spins the wrong way....looks like it'll have to be an S2000 then

300HP but the question is will it fit! The supercharger is on the side so wondering about width but if it will what an awesome car!

Chris,

I want to do an S2000 next, but everybody is trying to talk me out of it.

Was it that expensive to do ?

Or should I say, would you do it again ?

Cheers, Lyn.

Any reason why you couldn't flip the back axle/diff, end for end to cure this?

The problem is in the gearbox running backwards affecting bearing thrust etc giving a very uncertain life.

In the USA there's quite a lot of experience in reversing engine rotation on Honda motors with revised Cams and belt tensioners.

I believe that the 1600 or 1800 Honda VTEC motor is a brilliant option for 7 type cars if only someone would develop a reverse rotation gearbox (prefferably sequential) - they're light - rev endlessly - last forever - make plenty of power and I think with throttle bodies and minor mods could give BEC's a run for their money

Edit:
Having just said the above I found this http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_gf5r-rev.asp

Looked into the VTec when deciding on my current car. It is a very high engine, beware. You will need to dry sump it in a seven and still will need a scoop in the bonnet.

Lovely engine though!

Here is a piccie of the ZCars Supercharged VTEC engine, to show you how big it is with all the bits on
This one is 450hp, 180 top speed and 2.5 to 60

I would never want to do 130 in a mini never mind 180

Cheers
David

Methinks the latest Vtec Civic engines spin the 'conventional' way. They are certianly mounted on the drivers (right hand) side of the car, unlike the older units which were the other way round...

thomas4age - 12/2/07 at 10:24 PM

Very true indeed.

Older engines all spin the wrong way round.

But the F20 from the S2000 spins conventional (like a zetec for instance), that is the only one in the F-serie that spins normal

the later K20 series engines, from the 2 liter type R civics all spins the conventional direction

so all of them can be fitted in a seven type car.

whether you bonnet will also close is another piece of cookie.
