Type 9 ratios
Thinking about it - 24/2/07 at 11:36 AM

Does anyone know if the ratios in a type 9 gearbox from a diesel are any different to the petrol? If so what are they? Is there any identification like on the diff? letters etc.

V6 ratios are slightly different with a longer 1st gear. Think all the others are the same and the gearing is modified by fitting different diffs...

now do you have the gold dust rocking horse poo diff that goes with the type 9 ?

There's also a 'van' version with very low ratios, i.e. 3.91, 2.29, 1.4, 1.0, 0.82. If your box came from a diesel version it may very well have these ratios......

which actually aren't that bad if you ignore first.

A lot of racers use 2.4 to 2.2 as first gear - the only problem being the sort of power you'd need to use the ratio would probably kill the box

Bell housing and first motion shaft may be longer.
