Which 'box is fitted to the XR4i (not 4x4), MT75 or Type 9 ?

early had type 9 later MT75.
You have to look unfortunately and as with any ford don,t take the age as an indication as with any old car it may have had a few scrapyard repairs.

I thought it was a Type 9, but needed to confirm.

Slightly better first gear ratio up from 3.6 to 3.3, i think, and can take a whopping 155 fl/lbs of torque and 155bhp

easy to find out though - look at gear pattern

also DOHC's & 2.9 V6's should have MT75's, SOHC's & 2.8 V6's should have Type 9's
