As an ex-biker if I remember correctly the Fazer 1000 engine was a "detuned" version of the R1 engine (to suit the Fazer 1000 bike's
sports tourer role as opposed to R1's all out supersports character), and although I believe the physical differences between the two engines are
not major I don't know exactly what the differences were.
To be sure of 150bhp I would recommend you get the R1 engine. I had previously asked the question what were the differences between the R1 and Fazer
1000 engines and didn't get a definitive reply on this site.
Cheers

Some more info.......
Spoke to a bike breaker yesterday. They said that the Fazer 1000 uses an R1 engine but detuned by having 'softer' cams.
Angus.
Here is some interesting reading

Basically, The engine gives the same peak torque as an R1 but 1000 RPM lower in the rev range. It has 143 PS instead of 150. It has 37mm carbs
rather than 40mm with a lower compression ratio. The head is aluminium rather than magnesium. The crank is heavier and the clutch lighter.

1st gear is also 4% taller
It doesn't seem like a bad engine. More low down pull than an R1 at the expense of less top end.
