unfortunatly i cant tell you, are you sure there arent numbers on the distributor for the relative numbers on the leads? I know which socket on the dizzy is #1...but I dont know which plug that corosponds to...
With the crank sprocket lined up to TDC and cam pulley on the mark, the rotor arm should be pointing to cyl 1. After that they go in firing order clockwise (1-3-4-2 isnt it??)
Cyl 1 is at timing belt end of engine.
I think its 1-3-4-2 on the pinto find one on the distributor by sticking your finger over the spark plug hole of cylinder one and turn it over by hand till you feel the air compress and the cut out on the lower pulley lines up with the timing pointer. Number one will be where the rotor lined up with the lead on the cap. Very simple to do, don’t you have a manual…?
Chears, will give it a go..
I do have a haynes manual but I will be buggerd if I can find it in the book...
Lets see if it will start for the first time :-s

Bollocks...the battery is totaly buggered...
Will get another one and see if I can get it to start then!...
Pinto like all its 4 cylinder Ford ancestors going back to the model T is a 1243 firing order.
Pinto distributors rotate clockwise.
I set my pinto up as 1-3-4-2, seems to run remarkable well considering
1-3-4-2
No 1 socket on the distributor has a dot next to it. No 1 cylinder is at the front/elt end. Its in the Haynes manual, first or second entry in the
engine specifications at the front of the engine chapter (in a sierra haynes manual)
