would the RS 2000 alloy sump be suitable to fit to the 2 ltr pinto for my luego velocity and what ground clearance would i gain or do i just modify the existing sump
The RS2000 was fitted with a 2.0 l pinto so the sump is ideal, if you can find one, it's lighter too.
From memory I think you gain just under 2 inches ground clearance.
Cheers
Chris
Dont forget to get the oil pick up with it and also try and get the matching bell housing.
Personally I would advise against the alloy sump; it'll still stick out below the chassis and apparently they crack rather easily if bashed. Go for a modded steel one that'll take being knocked about!
thanks for the advice guys now i think i'll look for a modified steel sump as we have lots of those nasty speed humps around here
I used 3mm plate on the base of my sump and angled it up at the front to act as a bit of a skid plate.
I followed Mark Allansons guide to a point. Well worth a search and read.
The alloy sump and a shortened steel one are the same depth (i.e. level with the bottom of the bellhousing, theres no point being shorter than
that!)
The alloy sump is heavier than a steel one as well as being silly money. I cut and shut my steel one, took about an hour. And cost nowt.

Agree the alloy ones are silly money. Nothing much under £100.
I was watching one this week that went for £144 plus £30 p&p
I can't weld but I can cut and grind steel and then take it to a man who can.
