
sorry to start an other thread about this ...just spotted the other PCV.. but mine is specific to the RV8..Or maybe it is not?
Having problems with the crank case ventilation via the flame trap.
With this left open to the atmosphere the engine runs wonderfully. Today I connected it up via a tube to the pcv port on the Webber 500 carb, This
resulted in a strange noise coming from the engine block and when the engine was turned off a hissing sound for 5 to 6 seconds as the engine block
sucked air back into itself.
The suction from the carb is massive and seems to be creating a large pressure drop within the block.
My question is – Is it OK for me to just vent the flame trap to a catch tank or fit a filter on the end of it instead of connecting it back up to the
carb.
Or am I using the wrong connection on the carb.

As long as the pressure is not the other way you are fine, infact extra horses delivered for free as its less work for the pistons going down.
Decent dry sumps create a negative vacumn !

What he said! A bit of negative pressure is no real bother. As long as it's not pressurising, i wouldn't worry. Just claim the noise is some
fancy new tuning gagdet working! 
My main worry would be backfires getting into the crankcase - which is why my Ford x-flow has a one-way valve in the breather circuit.
