Dry Sump Tank design

Any rules of thumb about dry sump oil tank capacity versus engine capacity. I have to fit tank into an awkward place is the tank just a big void or is there stuff inside it to seperate the oil & air? If so how does it work

Best info I've seen in writing is in Carrol Smiths "prepare to win"

I can try scan it if you like.

Basically, must be vertical cylinder, openable for cleaning, horizantial baffles are sensable, inlet to allow oil to run along wall cetrifuge style. Tank to run about half fulll?

Bartons catalouge also has a good paragraph on this, they reccomand minium 7 liters

Ta Fred I thought it was fairly straightforward but its best to check. I'll borrow copies of the books you mentioned at the car club
