
I had my engine running today , mainly to see how close the fueling was - I have a basic Co meter and a wideband sensor set-up .
The worrying thing is - the meter is showing 3.5% on the right hand bank , and 12.5% on the left
There is allso noticeable white smoke from the left hand exhaust which gets less as it warms up .
Any ideas ?

Possibly blown the head gasket??? If it was burning oil i'd expect the smoke to be blue.

White smoke is usually a water/anti-freeze leak into the combustion chambers.
Might just be the head gasket as Paul says.

You can buy a dye testing kit that will tell if there are exhaust gasses in the coolant.
Are you loosing any coolant ?
What gearbox are using on the back of that ?

Unfortunately I dont own a compression tester , if I have to remove the heads......£60 for top end set , then theres all those hours of porting and
polishing

but turned into a bit of a mission
! Wouldn't have thought a head gasket failure would cause a rise in C.O. I would be looking at overfueling on the bank that is high, possibly faulty injector? Is the cooling system installed and filled? if it is, as big wasa says the dye testing kit would tell if it is head gasket in a few seconds and cheaper than a head set although if it is head gasket you would have to buy one.

I`ll check out a dye testinc kit monday - I can swap injectors around in the morning , that should soon show me if theres a faulty one .
