Hello, I have a 3.92 diff, type 9 gearbox (from a 1.8 CVH Sierra), 1.8 zetec and 15" wheels.
Now, I know you can get different ratio diffs, how does my diff compare with the other ratios available in terms of overall top speed and
accereration?
Does a higher ratio number on the diff mean a higher top speed or better acceleration?
Is there a handy spreadsheet so I can compare ratios?
Thanks
Keith.
Higher number means better acceleration / less top speed.
Try Gearcalc to play with ratios - http://www.locost7.info/gearcalc.php
James
3.92 - higher acceleration/lower top speed
3.62 - lower acceleration/higher top speed

Thank you, the gearcalc thing was exactly what I was after.
the 3.9 diff sits nicely with the type 9...Plus, you can (if you want), change the 3.9 crownwheel to a the 3.6LSD...it's a direct replacement...
