oil breather crank vent position
toothbrush - 4/7/05 at 11:31 AM

Hi,
I've got a 711m x-flow block that I'm trying to fit a crank breather & oil catch tank to. Burton Power sold me a 90 degree elbow to fit into the block to vent the crank from, telling me "it goes down by the fuel pump". WHERE ? I've looked and I can't find either a hole or a core plug to remove to fit this part to. If anyone can enlighten me I would be most greatful. (I have looked at the archive but all the posts seem to cover plumbing the catch tank in, not where on the block the vented vapour is coming from).

Thanks,
Ian

It fits just above the fuel pump, there is a oil seperator box fitted there as standard, you will need to remove this first and replace it with the elbow.

Face the right-hand intake side of the engine. The fuel pump is roughly in the middle, just above the sump. Just to the left and slightly higher is the hole for the vent.

Previously this would have a small rectangular box pushed into it, with a rubber pipe from the other end that goes to the inlet manifold.

Does that help?
