engine size?

Hi all,

just in the process of rebuilding an engine i bought, and discovered it's already overbored to +30. it was originally a 1600, so what cc is it now (i'm too lazy to work it out)

will this have a significant effect on performance? (i'm guessing not)

msny thanks

Nib

Well , since +60 give you a 1660 , and +90 gets you a 1690ish , then my guess would be about 1630 ?

Its cuz I is blond , innit

it should since there is no replacement for displacement; also the CR goes up an ickle bit.

what would the efrfect of using standard rings on a +.30 piston be then? hypothetically.

I'm guessing a risk of leakage, or actually no effect ?

many thanks

Snapped rings as you try to fit them I'd imagine

If you managed to get them on the pistons without breaking them, the ring gap would be too large and you'd end up with an engine that used lots of oil, breathed heavily and would be down on performance.

managed to get them on, but i've ordered the correct ones now, just to be sure.

also only fitted one piston so no major loss to the assembly process

i'll take some piccys later for anyone interested.
