remote servo question - wierd!
I know this is not really light weight stuff, but I hoped someone may make sense of this, it's to do with my Cobra build:
My clutch remote servo is behaving very strangly! The pedal disengages the clutch when the engine is not running, but when it is running the clutch
does not disengage and on lifting off the pedal, the pedal feels like it ratchets up in steps!
I have looked closer at installing advice on the interweb and notice:
1) I have not got an in-line non-return valve in the vacuum hose (I thought the non-return valve on the body of the servo would do).
2) The servo is only angled upwards by about 10-15 degrees.
3) I have the brake and this remote servo on a t-piece supplied by one vacuum point.
And thats it!
Does anyone know if either of those factors would effect the servo?
Has anyone ever had to solve this problem before?
Many thanks.
Ed

I had a similar thing with a vac brake servo on a Mk4 Cortina, which at the time was only 2 years old.
When the brake pedal was pressed the brake would apply in jerks and the pedal would travel about half an inch
The problem was the servo seals, IIRC.
New servo cured it.

Cheers, only problem is the jerkiness is on the release of the pedal. I'ts also a new unit so I would expect the seals to be OK!

Sure you haven't swapped the inlet and outlet connections.
With remote ser#vos the outlet is the port furthest from the reevoir.

I had hoped that was the problem too. Now having tried a few things I have decided it just doesn't have enough vacuum but the servo could be
duff to.
Cheers all
