HELP - It won't quite fit!

Hi, just fitted a crossflow engine to my locost, with twin 40 webers.

Problem is, the bonnet wont fit now as the webers are just too tall (about an inch)

Is there an inlet manifold that positions the webers a bit lower in the engine bay? If so, where do I find one?

Also need it to clear the electronic distributer cap just below.

Must be someone else who's had this problem.

Dont really want to buy a new bonnet (or do I? Is that easier/cheaper, considering the paint etc?). Old bonnet is really good.

Any advice/help would be gratefully recieved.

Cheers
Matt

lower the engine or cut a hole in the bonnet like most folk do, tried the air filters yet? then it really won't fit

cut hole in bonnet, add some ali trim and make a feature of it especially with K&N filters

Hole in the bonnet with a bulge on it? You can leave the front open to feed cold air into the carbs.

there are two crossflow manifolds for the webbers - one for escorts and one for sevens. Make sure you've got the smaller one first.

Ditch the Webers and fit bike carbs or better still throttle bodies. Made my own manifold and airbox for T/Bs , it all fits under a standard bonnet , stays in tune , gives better driveability and economy than Webers

Get a Bosch dizzy cap with side entry leads. Fiat punto IIRC will do. Can't remember year.

There are varying inlet manifolds for the crossflow

A 1300 manifold is a *lot* taller than a 1600 one.

1600 manifolds also vary by a small amount, too - think there's 2 common ones, one higher than the other...
