Gearbox lower mounting Bolt
Looking for a little advice.
in attempting to remove the lower Gearbox mounting from my type 9 Gearbox I have sheared off the bolt head , by doing so the lower mount was able to
be removed allowing access to some of the threaded section on the bolt but only enough to get 1 M12 nut on.
looking for options to get the threded section out of the gearbox body other than welding a nut on ( last option)
Any ideas or advice ????

1.Drill and use easyout.
2. drill and re tap.
3. Weld nut to stud and try to undo.

Personally I'd definitely opt for a nut welded on as the heat should destroy the corrosion. Soak it very well in WD40 too, I'd not
recommend using an easy out.
Heat is your best friend in these instances and I bet once the nuts welded on you could unscrew it very easily. Just take the gearbox to a fab shop
and they'll weld one on for a couple of quid and the thread in the gearbox will be intact once removed.
Coat the new bolt in copper slip to prevent this happening again

A good pair of mole grips on the stud is another option.

That would be my preferred option as well. The only time I've ever had this fail was when there bolt/stud had sheared off pretty much level
with the surface of the item it had broken in, so not enough metal to weld to.

you can get round that problem by welding directly onto the sheared stud to raise the metal higher, then place the nut over that, crank up the heat
and fully melt the welded material into the center of the nut

You would be amazed how easy it will be by welding the nut on.

Finally got the little bugger out.
ground 2 flats onto stud and fixed a pair of mole grips to it then heated the gearbox mounting point up and it went
