My Blocks Guts!
Looks quite complicated in there, but 10 mins is all it takes to work out what does what! Wished I'd taken a pic when the heads were still on...
even more 'chain-tastic'! Two of those gears drive the Air-Con and Power-Steering pump respectively. I've already junked the actual
pumps, but hope to remove the redundant gears as well (every little helps!). The gear driven water-pump is on the other side of the engine... it too
has gone bye-bye's and the water will be pushed by an electronic jobbie! The only ancillary-drives that remain are the oil-pump and the
alternator.

One of the heads (the four small holes are the FSI ports... each will be blanked off at both ends). You can't see the Secondary Air Injection
Ports as they're hiding in the exhaust ports (funnily enough!). These will also be blanked off.

Yes... and no!
Absolutely now't wrong with the engine, but I had to block up the FSI ports as there are no aftermarket ECU's at present that can run
direct injection (and it would cost thousands to have the OEM Bosch Motronic's adapted). This necessitated taking the heads off.
In for a penny, in for a pound, so thought I'd deal with every other 'issue' whilst it was stripped (ditching unnecessary gear
drives, blanking off SAI ports, etc). Doesn't involve a great deal more dismantling.
If you're gonna do it, do it right...
Just hope it all goes back together again ok!
