this is probably a terrible idea... 48 dcoe carbs? anyone selling 45 or 48s?
where's cheap? what manufacturers are there? webber? dellotoro? Magneti Marelli (i think they make them too) ? who else?
I've already bought loads of bike carbs that don't quite fit in the space given
i can get a manifold for my engine for about £100 new, am i likely to find a pair of carbs for very cheap? don't all laugh at once...
could probably be any of the other DCOE carbs? they all have the same mounting flange don't they?
its for a 2 litre vauxhall engine

My Dellorto 45s on the Zetec in my first Sylva cost £25 the pair.
They came off a Lotus Eclat and we bought two rebuild kits and refurbished them.
Worked absolutely fine.
You need to find a scrappy with an old Lotus and hopefully an owner who doesn't recognise the carbs for what they are.
Having said that.
If you can't fit bike carbs in, you ain't getting a pair of sidedraaghts in either.
Seriously, you're looking at the biggest pair of jugs this side of Dolly Parton.

you're maybe right. 48's are what they using on the racing trucks. so i know they fit with normal bought manifolds. reckon it might be
easier than trying to wedge a set of bike carbs in there, and make my own manifold (i've already made one completely unsuitable serves me
right for trying to make it without even having the engine in the car lol
there's some 45s on ebay at the minute, fairly cheap. no scrappys round here with anything but fiat puntos and a few old fiestas. they're
crap round here
if 45s are the same flange as 48s then this could look like a possibility. got 2 sets of bike carbs i could sell on and a DGAS carb too lol

yep, got some zzr1100 which i'm definitely not going to use. they'd need a good clean, an i've not used them so i don't know
how well they work.
as for the dgas, can't remember what it is, 36 rings a bell, but i'm not sure. not really after a crown wheel and pinion at the minute to
be honest. make me another offer though?
the other carbs i've got are zx9r, but who knows, i might still use them. not sure yet

Respace the ZX9R carbs, use the original bike carb rubbers bolted to a 5mm ali plate, which is in turn bolted to the head.
They'll take up very little space.

the problem i've got with them as they are is the hit part of the chassis under the bonnet, they're very close to the bulkhead, and the
almost touch the pedal box and the alternator. (remember my chassis is very different to most on here)
how would i g about respacing the carbs though? and how long should the runners be? i won't be able to bolt them almost right up to the head,
as they'll be at an angle.
