What's it worth?

Its only an old pinto, but I am trying to find out what it would be worth once I have swapped it out for the duratec later this year.

Its done about 4500miles since being rebuilt.

Spec:
205 block pinto standard bore
Unleaded injection head
Fully rebuilt bottom end
New bearings and rings all around inc cam bearings
Bores honed
Lightened flywheel
New clutch
FR33 cam kit fitted
Aluminium vernier pulley
Head ported as per Des Hamills powertuning book
Weber DCOE/DHLA inlet manifold (no carbs)
H&H ignition solutions electronic ignition road/rally spec with dry coil
Shortened sump
High pressure and high capacity oil pump
Modified rocker cover
Modifed alternator and bracket to clear chassis
Engine mounts to suit locost/GTS/MK chassis

Any ideas?

Cheers,
David

I sold mine that was bored out to 2050cc, new pistons, fast road cam, 205 block, ally rocker cover and twin 45's and I got about £870 That was about a year ago, went to someone who was putting it in a capri. If you take lots of quality pics and emphasise that it's a nice period engine for older fords then I think you can make good money, and it's better looking and a better spec than mine was!

I sold the lightened flywheel, alternator, gearbox & distributor separately, so over £1000 total (dizzy was a flip hot burton one and got good money for the flywheel)

I think it is worth about fifty quid, and I will be up with my trailer to pick it up tomorrow

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

No replies david so here goes my tuppence worth. Hope your not offended

As an unknown quantity on the bay where no one knows you or your build or the fact that you've rebuilt the engine (unless there's good proof no one will believe it) I'd say it'd make around 150 to 200 quid.

On here where we've seen the build and the fact that it's run etc and folk have commented on it then without the carbs IMHO £350 to £400 perhaps.

It's not going to make the £1000 that allegedly tuned xe's make with the carbs and that on.
Sorry if that's less than you expect but it's only my opinion hope your not offended

even with the slating it gets on here as a boat anchor it's still a great engine setup. IMHO easy to work on and for a basic setup for the not so knowledgeable builder. It would still be a desirable engine the rs2000 brigade and if you can find the right buyer then who knows it may make more.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Thanks, I genuinely have no idea on what its worth. I all I know is what it cost for me to build

Essentially I am trying to pull together some costs for the duratec, trying to be orgainised with money etc for a change!

Dave I would have an ask around at the club next month.
There are some Robin hood owners with 1.8 pinto's that might want to up them to a 2.0 and they know you and the car/engine

Get it weighed in for the scrap value or sell it to Roman Abramovich for use with his flotilla of yachts.

Good idea Martin, thanks It wont be coming out until the end of the year anyway, wrong time of year for engine swaps now!

I havent had it on a rolling road, but it should be 150-160bhp in that spec. In the GTS it gives me just under 5 secs to 60.

Cheers,
David

PS it has a high pressure and high capacity oil pump fitted too. Oil pressure runs at about 40psi tickover and 100 under power.
