water temp problems ???
Hi all
ran the car today at sva and car was getting warm no probs and running the fan did cool the temp down,
issue is that even when the car reached temps of 106 the header tank still remained cold,
cant understand why,
there is only 1 pipe to the header tank should this be changed etc,
its a blackbird engine etc,
things i will check is the thermostat but temp comes down when fan on so think ok but car will not stabalise at a temp for very long on tick over it
seems to clim to quick for my licking,
any help appreciated
thanks for any input,
by the way it is a ali header tank

you should have a constant flow through the header tank, going in at the top and out at the bottom, the top hose normally joins to the radiator
expansion pipe (6mm). make sure you haven't got an air lock and the bottom of the header tank is above the head of the engine

If you only have one pipe to the expansion tank then I can't see why it should get hot.
If on the other hand you had it connected to bypass hose on the head or the blead tube on the stat housing (assuming the Bird has either) then you
would get the flow through it but as things stand you won't and the water is just expanding and pushing the cold water in the pipe to the tank
up hill. Have you got any small water outlets on the head or stat housing blocked off ?

Hi all
the header tank only has 1 outlet at the base of the tank and a over flow pipe on the neck of the tank, but this pipe just runs to the ground etc,
i have a pipe on the housing blocked with a bleed on it to get the air out,
and one on top of the radiator with a bleed also on it,
any further ideas welcome
thanks again maybe i need a different header tank???

On my busa engine's stat housing there is a blead screw which is obviously done up and a fitting for 6mm ID pipe. Pipe goes from this fitting
to a scimilar fitting on the top of the rad and there is another 6mm ID fitting on the expansion tank which it T's into on the way. With your
current setup the only way any air will get in your expansion tank is if the bubbles sink to the bottom hose and bubbles dont sink!
