Engine group buy anyone?
Hi folks
I'm looking for a new engine for my car and I know that they are a lot lot cheaper in Japan and Malasyia.
The best deals require a 20' container load which equates to roughly 85 engines!
Now I'm just wondering if there is any interest for a group buy?
For example I got a quote for a 4AGE silver top @ £220. This would be less volume discount but + shipping costs / taxes, duty, etc. I've asked
some more questions about guarantees / checks, etc.
Let me know if anyone is interested and the type of engines that you would be interested in.

not really wanting one myself as I've got an engine already but your group buy, will it be open to bike engines too?

only 81 to go now...
I know that they have 4agze engines available. I've asked about bike engines already too and am waiting for an reply.
I'll ask some more questions once I know the level of interest and type of engines that people require.
Other used parts may also be available.
Only one have any contacts within the shipping or freight forwarding industry?

The seven's list hired some containers to take their cars to the USA in 2004 (ish). May be worth contacting them to get details - although i
suspect a lot of that was done via 'friends' etc.

Dear all
Please can you be as specific as possible regarding the specification of engine or parts your require. For engines, do you require just basic engine
or engine and gearbox, etc, etc. Please also specify age / version / etc. This will enable me to gain a specific price for specific spec.
So far it's looking good. But no bike engines are available from the supplier I have contacted so far. I'll try others in due course.
Also seems that smaller quantities of engines are possible which makes things a lot easier.

I've got an idea of a few more engine costs now but just need to work out the duty and transport costs. Still looking good!
Anyone else interested?
What is a senaible price that people are willing to pay for say a Silver top 4age? I've seen them for £675.00 on e bay which is stupid
money.

I've Been away on holiday hence the late reply.
All engines will be compression & crank tested before we they are sent out from supplier. They will even supply me with a video file via email
too before we shipped out.
And regarding warranty i quote the reply "If the engines you get is broken or not good (our fault) then please sent me photos and engine
number. We will try
to do replacement then. Small parts we can courier to you but if lets say it is big then we will replace in the next order
or give credit. So far all is good for us."
So far it looks like a 20v Silver top 4age would be £400 ~ £450. Collected from me in Essex.
I'm still confirming costs of other engines as asked.
Who would be interested at these costs?

I take it isnt 85 of the same engine then? Also are they new engines?
Im sure if you advertised around and they were good prices you may be able to get close. For example the duratec is used in Mazdas (the one claire is
talking about?) and the caterham boys obviously use these.

The reply I received was;
Sorry we do not have these available at the moment except for k20a which is a package/halfcut here.
K24a is with at transmission.
USD$1,600 K24A AT DOHC I-VTEC
USD$5,600 K20A MT DOHC DC5 TYPE R 6SP WIRING ECU AXLE SET
The above costs are plus shipping, duty, etc. Does not look that attractive to me but I do not know whhat these go for in the UK.
