Crossflow oil volume
Evenin all,
Anyone know the correct oil volume for a 1.6 Crossflow when full (originally in an Escort). I think my dipstick must be poorly positioned (too short a
holding tube) and giving me false readings. Had a bit of proffesional fettling done this week and he reckons there is way too much oil in there even
though the dipstick is smack on. Only way I can think of to fix it is too drain everything, fill with correct amount and reposition the dipstick to
read full. No idea how much to put in though.

According to the Haynes book of lies for the Escort Mk 2 (with x-flow)
Initial capacity with filter = 3.67 litres
Oil change without filter change = 2.75 litres
Oil change with filter change = 3.25 litres
This is assuming that you have the standard sump (unmodified) and the standard filter. I have neither!

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

If your getting a smoke screen behind you when giving it a bit of stick try dropping the oil level nearer the minimum mark . Helped with mine when
running the original carb/breather system

Or in old money 6 pints
Other type of sump -- MK1 & MK2 Cortina was 6.25 pints.

But isn't that just the same as 10, only with 11 numbers on the knob?
