Webers don't "snap shut"
Hi all,
After playing about with the car tonight, I realised I had a high idle. After further investigation I found that the Webers are not "snaping
shut"
Any ideas what to try/look at?
Cheers

Hi G,
Don't bend that metal bracket. When they do snap shut, the bracket will compress the spring correctly!

Unhook the cable, now do they snap shut?

Hi Tim,
No, that's his problem. Linkage off and middle connector off and neither carbs snaps shut on it's own.
Possible internal spring thing? I've got Dellortos so couldn't help. Maybe behind the metal service plate thing situated on the back of
each carb???

Shouldn't there be an external spring on the lever?

Sounds to me like you just need to give it a liberal spraying with oil. Also try removing the accelerator cable, fully opening the carbs and releasing
them, the extra inertia can often allow it to close fully.

i found mine had a load of crap in the tiny bearings on the butterfly spindle. its a nightmare to take the throttle spindle out I've been told,
I took the butterflies off the spindle in situ and rinsed it out with petrol/toothbrush i think. you will need to use loctite when putting the
butterflies back on with those tiny screws.

don't know if it is wat ned said but make sure the nuts at either side of the carbs are not to tight, also add some grease to bearings under the
washers

On stripping down the carbs I have found:
One of them just needed a clean and lube. Is much better now.
The other one has a stiff/sticking throttle shaft I guess thats either a bent shaft, or shafted bearings Neither of which I fancy doing
myself.
Anyone any ideas where I can send them for repair?
