pinto valve in crossflow head?
pinto and crossflow valves are same length (as near as ...) but crossflow stems is 7.9 mm and pinto is 8.9 mm.
now the pinto valves are cheaper so in theory a pinto exhuast valve (slightly bigger diameter) could be fitted to a crossflow and either the guide
enlarged or new guide fitted.
(pinto inlet valves are way bigger so those cannot be fitted)
anyone know if this has ever been done?
(no, not planning to do this but just wondering....).

Bigger stem will create more obstruction, and by the time you have had guides reamed out to suit the price difference will have vanished I suspect.
The price of standard xflow valves surely isn't that much? Burton shows £4.84 for standard 1600 inlet valves and £6.47 for exhaust. The larger
GT sized valves are more expensive (£7.79, £9.74).
FYI Kevin Leaper (PPC magazine) has modified the head in his Westy to take some modern thin stem valves as part of his supercharger conversion. One
of the valves came from a Merc A class, can't remember the other but they were pretty cheap.
