sierra temp gauge, fan switch etc

We currently have the standard sierra console installed. Having just bought a new water temp sender (2.0 pinto) the gauge seems to sit a little high for my liking.

At the bottom of the 'P' when moving on warm days (say 16deg) and rises to the top of the 'P' before the fan kicks in.

Rad is the usual polo one, brand new. Is this pretty normal? I'm probably paranoid but......
