if you are going to whack a big turbo on it then i would go with forged pistons and steel rods for sure!

omega0684 thoughts may not fit your need i.e. huge turbo + big lag = faster ditch seeking.
You realy don't want a big turbo on a light car every time the boost builds up your wheels will spin up, not nice.

Cosworth rods are good for 8000 rpm so will take the boost you will need easily, the Cosworth pistons are forged and should go to 250+ bhp (some take them to 300 bhp).
I got a set of Cossie rods for £37 of ebay so keep your eyes open for a set with pistons.
The standard Pinto has a 6 bolt crank, it would be wise to double dowl the flywheel to the crank.
The Cosworth rods do not have an oil spray jet to cool the underside of the piston and lubricate the gudgeon pin, you can drill the rods, but with caution i.e. no silly boost, an intercooler and proper engine cooling they should be fine.

Bead blasting or shot peening and lightened small ends will only realy help the rev limit and what you want is good boost lower down.
BHP sells engines, Torque wins races.
