engine coolant pressure cap

Sorry if this is a daft question but dont cars have a pressure releif valve in the coolant system anymore? Theres one on the old escort radiator i have but not the polo one. I assumed they were on the header tank but just been browsing through ebay for a header tank and they all seem to just have screw on caps? Am i missing something? Thanks

they do still have pressure relief mechanisms in the cap, so when they do vent, they vent all over the floor.

the key difference is in the header tank, which is half filled with air allowing the coolant to expand and compress the air rather than pushing it out into a seperate bottle.
