bike fuel pump

i have a bike fuel pump,i think its off a r1,its a misbishi,sorry for the spelling,
i think its a ingection pump because if i dont have my regulator plumbed in,when i go to start it it sperts out fuel from the fuel bether pipes on my zx9r carbs,if i join the 2 outlets together it starts, them revs and fluds,
anyone had this ??
it sounds like its a ingtion pump,as bike pumps as supost to regulate them selves
i juast looked on ebay it seems ingecton pumps are in tank?is this the case for all bike ingection pumps???
thank you
jamie

Are you sure you're connecting the pump to the right hoses? People have attached it to the float chamber drains in the past......

Otherwise yes, you might be using an injection pump which carbs really won't like!!

may just be float valves sticking if its the first time you have connected them, not the best if ideas as could spray petrol about but with a fuel pressure gauge could disconnect hose from pump and put you thumb over the end and run it for a second, if a carb pump at 2-4psi should be able to stop the flow easy if a injection pump at 35psi + it will spray every where!!
