what do pintos rev to
hi,i have a vulcan pinto,quite a few bits done to it,its not on forged pistons,its got a fr32, and has hepolite pistons,i dont have a limiter,and my
vapor dash is telling lies,its saying that i have reved to 7990rpm witch ant right what is the rev range any ideas,my cam is from 2500,7000rpm is this
poss in a pinto??

Mine has a piper 285 cam and peak power is at about 6400 so I don't bother taking it much past there.

Its probably not lying, pintos are rev hungry engines and really do like to rev high. If they haveno limiter they will rev very high indeed, only
limited by the size of carbs/TB's fitted.
On standard internals with a 205block 7300rpm is the recommended max with the conrods being the weakest point. The standard crank will take 9000rpm if
the flywheel is double dowelled.

wait till it explodes in a shower or molten shrapnel,take the reading and back the limit off 500 rpm

mine will rev to about 6800rpm but i dare not take it above 6500rpm

On the track mine goes to 7000rpm in second, third, and maybe 4th. But as Jacko says it's very brief before changing gear.
But! I've had the car on rolling roads a couple of times, you tell the operator, yea take it up to 7000. .....and it takes ages to get from 6000
to 7000 under load, not good for the nerves!
