GSXR can

Well I decided to buy a GSXR muffler off of ebay. It is in great shape and not any heavier than my existing muffler. Has anyone ever taken off the outlet on one? I want to put a 90 deg elbow on the outlet but the three allen screws are welded to the plate. I don't want to grind off the welds if I can't get to the inner pipe to weld on an elbow. I don't want hot exhaust going on the fender and tire. Russ

I took one apart, knock off the welds and screws do undo revealing a steel blank below, raised tabs with retaining nuts that the plate screws to.

The end cap is something special though, I could not weld it back using TIG so if you screw this up you are stuffed.

Rather that cut the welds on the screws I suggest you drill out and replace with allen bolts.

Regards Mark
