megajolt wiring
i'm really struggling to work out my wiring, but i do know a guy who has just set up his own company making wiring looms for kit car
manufactures (world of wiring- can't find his own website, but http://www.blitzworld.co.uk/content.php?categoryId=216 )
before i get all that done to incorporate the mega jolt, what would be the problems i'd find if i used non-shielded cable for the VR sensor,
just to get the engine running and make sure everything's fine?

The problems that interference causes are many and varied, no-one could tell you what would happen on your particular installation.
It might work fine, it may hardly run, or it might have some difficult to find misfire.

hmm, fair point. i might just try it and see. it would just be to make sure my engine and transmission actually works before having a proper loom (or
looms) made up

Do you not have a Maplins or similar near you, they sell various types of shielded cable, or how about using some old guitar/microphone lead etc?

i have got some shielded cable in, but every wiring diagram i could find said connect the sheild to various different pins on the edis. like i say i
just want to do it roughly to make sure my engine works before getting someone who knows what they're doing to do it properly.
i don't have the right plug for the sensor either, so would have been a case of cutting one off an old loom for now. i'd have it done
properly with lots of lovely new plugs later
if it'll run (misfire or not) i'd be happy for now

I will say latter fords that use the eec-iv for fuel and ignition do NOT screen the vr sensor but they do have a suppreser next to the coil pack.

Ive come across fords with unshielded wire also,If you just want to start the engine and check it is all basically working then im sure it will be
fine ,just avoid running the vr lead to near to the coil or plug leads.

there's no electrics near the sensors and stuff anyway. i'll give it a shot.
as long as nothing will breakl because of interference or anything
