all it is i dont really like the way it tells you to tighten them,

last stage 55 flb, then wait and go 90dig,i dont know why thay didnt put a tauqe setting insted,i guess it might have to do with the bolts streching?

I wouldn't worry mate, just follow the manual and you'll be fine.

Although if you do snap one don't blame me !!!!

common engineering practice i'm afraid - really is quite simple, tighten them to spec, run the engine up and tighten through the angle, nothing to be afraid of - do that when you get to subframe bolts and 6ft torque wrenches..... )

I've just refitted my head with Torx bolts that I bought from Gasketsforclassics at £8.50 the set + P&P.
It's a bit scary winding on the final 90 degrees - I was just waiting for one to ping and land me the other side of the garage!

That's the whole point of stretch bolts, you can't just give a torque figure because once the bolts start yielding, the torque is fairly constant. An angular torque is the only accurate way to use these bolts.

I was reading about this last week and apparently it's more accurate than a torque setting. When the bolt is already pretty tight, the last stage of tightening can be seriously affected by whether or not there is any lubricant under the bolt, the roughness of the surface, etc., but before the last stage of tightening, the effect is less - therefore torque for the first steps and a preset angle for the last.
